Lakers vs. Bobcats Recap 02/11/2008
02/12/2008Not much to say...there was a brief period of hope in the 4th quarter, but the Lakers controlled this game from the beginning. I fully expected to see a dominant offensive display when I went to see the Lakers play the Cats...I just did not expect it from Pau Gasol. While Kobe may have finished the game with better numbers, Gasol got the Lakers the lead with absurd shooting in the first quarter and the Bobcats never recovered.
There seemed to be more Laker fans than Bobcats fans at the game - my observations put Laker jerseys up by a 3 to 2 margin. There were more cheers for during the game for the Lakers than the Cats: 3 to 1. "Kobe", "MVP", and "Luke" to a couple of renditions of "Let's go Cats". The NBA: Feel the excitement. Have to feel for the team playing a road game at home.
The absence of Gerald was particularly tough in this game as the Lakers are huge: Pau, Lamar, Radmanovic, Kobe, and Fisher. Kobe is the second smallest player at 6' 6". The Bobcats countered with...Jeff McInnis - 2 inches shorter...and a lot slower. Even better? When Earl and Raymond were in together - high school teams have a bigger backcourt. When those two were on the court together, the team surrendered 1.6 points per possession. That is not good.
You know what? That is it, I am done for the night. Look at the stats page if you want to see how Earl has contributed in his first few games as a Bobcat.
