Boxscore of Bobcats vs Knicks - 12/20/2009
Score: 98-94 New York
Bobcats record: 10-16
Offensive Efficiency: 101.1
Defensive Efficiency: 107.7
Meritorious Player: Raymond Felton 25 pts, 9 rebounds, 7 assists

Acie Law? I'm not sure why you would put Law in the game when he has been inactive for nearly all of the games with Charlotte but then to have him try to make a game winning play when Raymond Felton has carried you down the stretch it just doesn't make sense. That was a bad decision to put Law in that position and I know Charlotte didn't have timeouts which is why you can't go with a guy who hasn't played in that situation because he doesn't know what to do.

As head scratching as the Law decision was I can't say it was all that lost this game Gerald Wallace being out and Stephen Jackson's back spasms played a major role as well. Every team has to deal with injuries and often the difference between a playoff team and a lottery team is the depth that is available to deal with the bumps and bruises from your key guys. When everyone is healthy the Bobcats look a lot like a playoff team, well tonight everyone wasn't healthy and they looked a lot like a lottery team.

Raymond Felton played well although I did think he was a little too shot happy early as he was trying to make up for Gerald Wallace's loss. 27 points on 22 shots is solid efficiency but Felton really shined with his other numbers. Taking a page from crash Felton grabbed nine caroms and dished out seven assists to boot, great effort from number 20.

Nice double-double from Tyson Chandler with 13 points and 14 rebounds but he will never be the offensive threat this team needs at center. There was a big play where he was open late rolling to the basket and Felton passed him the ball but he wasn't ready. All that muscle memory from eight years with Chicago and New Orleans will be hard to unlearn during his time with the Bobcats.

Another bad outing for Boris Diaw who had more turnovers (five) than points (four). He's become an easy target lately but having him as the starting four basically contributing nothing is hurting this team especially with Jackson and Wallace injured.

Depending on the status of Jackson and Wallace Tuesday could be a tough night. Detroit isn't a great offensive team but given what Charlie Villanueva did in his last outing against Charlotte this team is capable of getting hot. Hopefully plenty of icy hot and aspirin can get the Bobcats back at full strength because I wouldn't count on another 27 point night from Raymond.

Br2850 Says: Trade:

Charlotte Gets:

Micheal Beasley (Power Forward)
Daequan Cook (Shooting Guard)
Dorell Wright (Small Forward)
Trade Exception: $2,374,680

Miami Gets:

D.J Augustine (Point Guard)
Boris Diaw (Small Forward)
Trade Exception: $1,362,120

We get Micheal Beasley a good up and coming PF to replace a struggling Boris Diaw. Boris could have a great distributing role in Miami. Boris doesn’t have a role in Charlotte anymore because of Jax has come and took the scoring/passing role. Augustine gets a fresh start on a team that only has two point guards and the style of play he played in college. Augustine can play starting point guard in Miami in front of Mario Chalmers or play behind him. We get Daequan Cook a shooting guard who needs a fresh start on a defensive minded team. He can shoot lights out at three and he is our second tallest PG/SG player on our team. Dorell Wright is somebody we can use when Gerald gets injured and all we have behind him is Derrick Brown. Both t...

Connor Says: No, it sounds nice but would never happen.
The centerpiece of each trade (Beasly/DJ) are on complete opposite spectrums of play in their 2nd season. Not to mention that Beasly was drafted 2nd last year compared to DJ.
Not only that, but thinking they would also take a struggling Diaw is just foolish.
If the Bobcats could somehow pull that off, it'd be highway robbery. But this isn't Memphis we're talking about, it's Pat Riley's Heat.

Brett Says: Eddie House for D.J. Augustin is what it boils down to for the Cats - no way. D.J. showed flashes last year of being more than just a role player - and that is peak of potential that Eddie has reached. However, keep working on the trade proposals Br2850 - fun stuff to look at right now as the team struggles.
