Looking Back (and Forward) at Raymond Felton 09/30/2008
Considering how much e-ink I have put to virtual paper on Raymond over the last few months...I think this one is going to be link heavy, rather than chart heavy. That ok with you? Good, with that settled, let's have at it.
The MVP of the Bobcats in 07-08 - Through some flawed analysis on my part and lots of assumptions, Raymond came out looking like the defensive MVP of the team last year. In reality, high PERs are rare among points, and Raymond was just less awful on defense than most teammates.
Everybody Loves Raymond (But Why?) - It is not that I do not like Raymond - I really do. Really, I just needed a post title and this worked for me. Raymond is a solid point guard - who shoots too much and not well. If you do not feel like reading the post, those were the cliff ntoes.
Changing of the Gaurd - Once the Bobcats cut McInnis after the All-Star break, everyone thought Raymond would break out and show the world what a great point guard had been previously under wraps. In reality, little in his performance changed - except he shot worse. He was still solid - but nothing to cement him as "surefire starter for a playoff team material" (does that whole thing count as an adjective?).
07-08 Expectations for the Cats - For an idea of what to expect from Raymond this year, going back to last season's predictions is useful. He is the same player, just a year older. The potential is there and with Larry Brown in town, maybe we see more of it (or less of Raymond as DJ grabs the reins?).
