Summer League 2008 - Day One and Two

07/13/2008

Ok - First things first. The quality of the feed on NBA.com is horrendous. Even worse? Today, there was a insert of the scoreboard at the top of the screen - but the scoreboard was not being used. There are no announcers for the feed, just the arena announcer. Home videos from when I was a kid look better than this stuff. But other than that, it was great.

Quick thoughts then links:
-DJ Augustin - Shooting well, 9-18 overall, 2-5 on threes. Passing? Less good. 4 assists in the two games. And 7 turnovers. Considering his minutes, 3 times as many assists would be good, and he could stand to knock a turnover or two off that total. Considering it is his first action against pros - not bad.
-Alexis Ajinca - First up: He took 3 three point attempts today (making 0). That is 3 too many. 1-7 on day, 3-8 today (but 3-5 from inside the arc, so if his shot selection improved, maybe). 8 rebounds and 2 blocks, between the two games. Considering that was in about 37 minutes of action, I think that can be lived with, as no one is expecting him to be a dominant rebounder right out of the gate.
-Jermareo Davidson - Back to back good games. 8.5 rebounds per game, 1 block per, and 13.5 points, on 10-18 from the floor. It looks like Jermareo is trying to make a case to get some solid minutes at the 4.
-Kyle Weaver - 1 for 5 in both games, and no assists so far. Time to step it up, Kyle, or the Bobcats will only have 2 point guards on their opening day roster.

Box Scores:
7/12 versus Clippers
7/13 versus Hornets
