One of the 3 Kinds of Lies, here is an opportunity to put the equation to the test. Select the team and player who is getting replaced and then select the team and player you want to replace him with. At the bottom of the page, the first team's efficiencies and pythagorean record will be displayed with the replacement player. Even better - if one was a high minute player and the other not, I provide expectations based on how those minutes might get used: Player 1's minutes, player 2's minutes, and the mid-point. For the time being, here are the primary components of the formula - as I tweak it, this will be updated as well.

An update has been made - when swapping in a low usage player like Ben Wallace, all of the additional possessions go to teammates, it does not expect his usage rate to increase. As such the final term becomes just the efficiency of the swapped out player's teammates, and is no longer averaged with the new player's numbers.
